Privacy Policy
Last updated: [TO FILL: date]. This policy explains what ReduceMyFileSize (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, and why.
Files you upload
When you use a tool, the file you choose is uploaded to our server, processed to produce your result, and offered to you as a download.
- Your original upload is deleted from the server immediately after it has been processed.
- The result we generate is stored temporarily so you can download it, then removed automatically by a scheduled cleanup process. [TO FILL: confirm exact retention time configured on your server, e.g. “within 1 hour”.]
- We do not open, read, share or keep copies of your files beyond what is needed to create and deliver your result.
Information we log
For each processing job we store a record in our database to run the service, produce basic usage statistics and prevent abuse. This record includes:
- the tool used, the processing engine, and whether it succeeded or failed;
- the file size before and after processing (not the file contents or file name);
- your IP address and the date and time of the request.
We use IP addresses to apply rate limits and to block abusive traffic. We do not use them to identify you personally.
Cookies
- Security cookie — a CSRF cookie is set so we can verify that form and upload requests genuinely came from this site.
- Session cookie — set only if you sign in to the administration area; it is not used for ordinary public use of the tools.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google, as described below.
Advertising
This site displays ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- For choices about third-party advertising cookies generally, see aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
[TO FILL: if you serve visitors in the EEA/UK, confirm a consent management platform (CMP) is in place to collect consent for advertising cookies, as Google requires.]
Third-party services
We rely on these third parties, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdSense — advertising (Google Privacy Policy).
- [TO FILL: your hosting provider] — serves the website and processes requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices & rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, or to object to certain processing. Because we keep only minimal, short-lived logs and no accounts for public use, in most cases there is little associated with you to act on. To make a request, contact us using the details below. [TO FILL: confirm your legal basis / jurisdiction and any region-specific obligations.]
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above will change when we do.
