How much can a JPG shrink without looking bad?
Often 50–80% with little visible change, because camera JPGs are usually saved at higher quality than they need. Portraits and smooth gradients are the most sensitive to heavy compression, so prefer the High preset or a generous target for those.
Can I compress a JPG to a specific KB size?
Yes — type the target (e.g. 50 KB) and the tool finds the best quality that fits, downscaling the image only if the target can't be met at full size. It then shows the exact size it reached.
Does re-compressing a JPG lose more quality?
Each lossy save removes a little detail, so compress from the best original you have rather than repeatedly re-saving the same file. If your file is already small, we return your original unchanged.
Is it safe and private?
