Compress a PDF for an application form

Meet the per-document upload limit on application and government portals.

Temporarily unavailable

A program this tool depends on isn't available on the server right now, so it can't run. Other tools may still work — try the tool directory.

Application and government portals usually cap each uploaded document — commonly 100 KB to 500 KB for a PDF. This tool brings your document under the limit by re-encoding its embedded images, while keeping the text legible so your certificates, mark sheets and ID documents remain clear enough to read.

Set the exact limit the portal states and let the tool fit the file to it; if a colour scan can't reach a very tight limit, it returns the smallest readable version and shows the size. Jump straight to a common target: 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB.

Frequently asked questions

The portal says "PDF must be less than 200 KB". What do I do?
Use the compress PDF to 200 KB page, or type 200 in the target box here. The tool fits the file to that size and reports the result.
My scanned certificate won't get small enough — why?
Scans are full-page images, so they have a size floor at readable quality. Lower the maximum image dimension, or scan in greyscale at a sensible DPI, to reach tighter limits.
Will the document still be readable after compressing?
Yes — we keep the best quality that fits. Text stays sharp; only photographic/scanned detail softens at very small targets.
Is it safe and private?
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, processed on our server, and the upload is removed right after. The generated result is cleaned up automatically by a periodic job. We never share your files and no account is needed. See our Privacy Policy.
